One of the most common questions I get from women during a group presentation is regarding hosiery. How important is it for a woman to wear pantyhose to work? My answer is, “In business, it is extremely important for women to wear hosiery.”
Many readers may consider this “old school”, but you need to know that a woman who bares too much skin at work is taken less seriously than her male counterpart whose casual dress tends to be more traditional.
The trend of going bare legged is just that, a trend. And it’s the trends and new styles that create a professional fashion dilemma for many women. As sheer as they may be, think of hosiery as a barrier between you and the outside world. I am a 35 year old Realtor and I would not get caught not wearing pantyhose in my work environment. If you want to be taken seriously hose are a must even in the Texas summer heat!

I 29 year old IT consultant who thinks the no hose look is just a joke. I have a good body and stay in shape but I would never go to work without pantyhose on. I look more professional and have had a successful career partially based on my image which includes the use of hose. The Technology industry needs to wake up and realize that your attire is part of your image and ladies bare legs just don't make the grade.

As a man in the business world (my wife is a professional upper manager withe the government)I think that women who wear pantyhose are not only more professional than those who don't but the are more attractive as well. The hose complete the package so to speak. The 20 and early 30 somethings think that bare legs are acceptable. Think again.
